Margo "It's Good For You" Drgos
Margo Drgos started Organic Entertainment in her Brooklyn bedroom in the summer of '05 out of a desire to sleep late, go to great parties and stay out even later - and to not have to defend it as a career to her friends and family. Oh and she's kind of passionate about music too. She'll let you know, when she does, what she was really thinking in starting a company in an industry that has been tapped more rapidly in recent years than a keg in a college dormitory.
All kidding aside though, physical sales of records have decreased by over 20% in the past decade and the concept of artist development has become a nostalgic touchstone for those that were working in the music industry when there were actual jobs with titles as such.
Margo's true desire for starting Organic sprang from a clear vision for what has become the "indie" marketplace, a new music economy that has given artists more financial and creative freedom than ever before and not to mention the ability to compete on a level playing field with acts that have marketing muscle and distribution streams perhaps double or triple their own capacity. She sought to develop a service group, a label for-hire, if you will, under one roof. This concept strives to save money and time for said customers - both valuable commodities in what has become a saturated and extremely competitive arena in this new digital era of music marketing.
Her career has been spent developing corporate communications and global brand strategies for start-up companies in the tech, entertainment, media and online retail industries. She started her career working for veteran public relations executive, Joannie Danielides. Through her time at Danielides Communications, she managed business and brand communications for prominent female business owners and public figures throughout the world.
After, she joined with 33-year old public relations agency, Porter, LeVay and Rose as Vice-President of Media Relations. Her extensive agency experience has provided expertise on helping artists distinguish themselves in the marketplace through the impact of effective public relations. Her clients have been featured on major network news outlets such as CBS, ABC, FOX, the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and many, many others.
Just prior to starting Organic, she transitioned in the recording industry full-time; overseeing college radio promotions at 18-year old private company, Twinvision and working to further the careers of several independent artists that have since gone on to greater successes.
